Great minds: cheese, cheese and more cheese

If happiness could be measured in cheese, I would be in ecstasy today. The final part of my birthday celebrations took place last night and my friends all gave me cheese.

One couple gave me French cheese, wine and biscuits in a hamper. Another gave similar items – again all French – but in a bag.

Five others had clubbed together to add gift vouchers for cheese to their gift of French cheese and wine.

All the cheeses came from La Cave à Fromage in Hove. There was a Chaource, a Comté, a Valencay, an Isigny Ste Mère Camembert and two Petit Gaugrys.

I am certainly not complaining. Plus, as well as now having a well-stocked fridge, my wine cellar has several new additions: a Nuits-Saint-Georges, a Pouilly Fumé and a Bordeaux.

I guess I had it coming – I had arranged my birthday meal at the delightful Bistro Nantais in Hove. What with that and having set up this blog, what did I expect?

I suspect that there is only one person happier than me that I was given so much cheese for my birthday: the owner of La Cave à Fromage…
